Response of “Powerful Video” by Art Holliday, KSDK
I just read an article on a 14 year old boy named Jonah Mowry; he posted a video on YouTube. He had been bullied since 1st grade and had enough courage to post a video expressing his pain. News Reporter Art Holliday saw the video and decided to do a story on it called “Powerful Video. Art asks Middle school students about how they feel. As well as a Leader in the Gay Community and a teacher who specializes in Anti-bullying. Art states that the video “touched an international nerve” The video had over 7,000,000 hits and counting, people from all over the globe watched as well as celebrities. The viewpoint of this article is from a person who is not involved but strongly feels that bullying needs to stop. There is not really a slant or bias because the person who wrote the article is not really involved, he is not presently bullied or is a bully, but observes the worst of occasions. This article is part of a creditable news network. He is a news reporter, so he only interacts with the worst of bullying situations, where life or death is a large factor. I think his purpose is mostly to get people informed that bullying is a serious problem! Obviously the topic is bullying and the main idea is to get across his point that bullying is on the rise, and people of all sorts and kinds are affected by it. He is also trying to get his audience to join the fight against bullying and change the world for the better. I will post the link to it above; there is a video and an article. Watch it, get informed, and let’s get together and make a difference.
